When an employee, either on a permanent or frequent basis, works remotely from the same location , we call this location a virtual office and the employee a teleworker or telecommuter. For instance, if during peak season some employees have to work on week-end from home or if during a long medical recovery a person cannot drive to the office they effectively can be considered to be teleworkers. A recent survey we conducted happens to confirm my last blog introduction statement “While Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are affected by the recession, most of them keep investing in their business and on the top of their investment list is IT”. While Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are affected by the recession, most of them keep investing in their business and on the top of their investment list is IT. At the IDC Direction 09 in March, Ray Boggs and Merle Sandler shared the figure below which highlights that while the SMB IT spending is decreasing it is on average less impacted than the total corporate IT spending.

This is confirmed by a
recent survey from Compass Intelligence published in eWeek stating that “majority of small-business IT buyers have remained positive about their IT spending […], with 42 percent of those surveyed […] expecting to keep their ICT (information and communications technology) spending unchanged in 2009.”

On Tuesday, during his keynote at Voicecon and as part of the Avaya Aura announcement, Avaya CEO Kevin Kennedy commented that the Time for Innovation was now explaining that Innovation was often given birth during challenging economic times and actually helped economies recover. Isabelle Guis leads our Avaya Product Marketing and Go-To-Market efforts in the Small & Medium Enterprise space. She focuses on strengthening and expanding our routes to market, and increasing brand recognition and thought leadership with small business owners.
Before joining Avaya, Isabelle Guis led the post-acquisition integration of Airespace with Cisco sales and channel Go-To-Market. She then launched Cisco Motion and created the marketing strategy for Cisco Mobility Solutions, emphasizing Context Aware and Mobile Unified Communications, and the development of Mobility solutions for verticals.
Isabelle also held positions in Nortel's Enterprise and Service Provider divisions of Europe and North America. She holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Supelec in France, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
